Calendar words (Monday, Tuesday, January, February, weekend) are useful in Morse code for scheduling drills, logging amateur radio contacts, and date-stamped messages. Ham radio operators traditionally log every QSO with the exact UTC date, and CW operators often spell out the month in Morse rather than abbreviate. Day names tend to be 5 to 9 letters in English, making them moderate-length transmissions (3 to 5 seconds at 12 WPM). The calendar group also doubles as practice material for learners who want to send time-stamped messages.
