See how it worksIt measures the brightness inside the target box on every video frame. As the light turns on and off, it times each flash and each pause, works out which are dots, dashes and gaps, and turns them into letters. It keeps recalibrating as more of the message arrives.

Hold the phone still, avoid bright backgrounds and let it see a few flashes: the decoder needs the light both on and off before it can set a threshold. Very fast signals, above about 20 WPM, can be too quick for a 30 fps camera.
