Cities

City names in Morse code, from Paris and Tokyo to Boston and Sydney, are part of every shortwave operator's daily vocabulary. Ham radio contacts traditionally include the operator's QTH (location), often spelled out in Morse at the start of a QSO. International cities became standard Morse practice because they identify the country, time zone, and signal path of an incoming transmission. The Morse code for major capitals is useful for travel-themed tattoos, decorative plaques, and amateur radio operator certifications.
